Management Reshuffle

At the recent management reshuffle of Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, Mr. Min Keh-sik, president & CEO of Hyundai Heavy Industries, has assumed new responsibility as vice chairman & CEO of Hyundai Heavy Industries as of March 19, 2004. Meanwhile, Mr. Yu Kwan-hong, president & CEO of Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, has been appointed new president & CEO of Hyundai Heavy Industries, replacing Mr. Choi Kil-seon who has been assigned as president & CEO of Hyundai Mipo Dockyard.

 
Spring Festival Shines Again
Over 1,400 participants including resident supervisors working at HHI and Hyundai Mipo Dockyard and their families gathered again under the slogan, ¡°Feel the Spring¡±, for the International Supervisors Spring Festival at Munsu World Cup Stadium Auxiliary Field on May 1.
Taking a break from their daily routines, the supervisors and their families from over 30 countries enjoyed the opportunity to share goodwill and friendship.
With various games and events, plenty of food and wonderful prizes, this festival brought the community of supervisors and their families from around the world closer despite cultural and language barriers.

Stockholders' Meeting Held

About 500 people including shareholders, investors, management and others attended the 30th Annual Stockholders¡¯ General Meeting, which took place on March 19.
During the meeting, several key figures addressed the audience.
In his statement, HHI Vice Chairman & CEO Min Keh-sik promised to maintain a technological edge and develop HHI as the world¡¯s leading integrated heavy industry company, based on harmony and cooperation of the entire HHI workforce. In addition, Tak Hak-su, head of HHI¡¯s labor union, pledged to build a healthy labor-management relationship and cooperate fully for the sound growth of the company.

Order for Forklift Trucks from Greece

HHI was awarded a 1.3-million-euro order from the Hellenic Olympic Committee to supply 98 forklift trucks for 2004 Athens Olympics.
The forklifts will be used at logistics sites near the Olympic stadiums.
The order was won after a competitive public bidding against world-class American and European forklift manufacturers. HHI sees this success as an opportunity to gain more market share in Europe.
The eight forklift models ordered, including HDF25-5 with a side shift attachment (which allows the folklift to be moved left or right), received high marks for performance, durability and quality.
Of the 98 units, 26 were shipped from HHI¡¯s Belgian subsidiary in March, and the remaining units were manufactured at its Ulsan factory and shipped in April.
Meanwhile, the number of forklifts produced in China has reached over 100 units a month since HHI¡¯s Beijing factory began production in August 2002.

5,000 Turn Out for Climbathon

The 5th Annual Ulsan-Hyundai Climbathon organized by Hyundai Heavy Industries and Ulsan Metropolitan City was held on April 25.
As one of the largest climbathons held in Korea, a total of 5,000 people including 3,500 runners participated in the 11.6km marathon as their families and friends cheered them on.
In his opening speech, HHI Vice Chairman & CEO Min Keh-sik spoke of the importance of promoting athletics in Ulsan and HHI¡¯s ongoing commitment to creating a healthier and happier life for Ulsan citizens.
Meanwhile, HHI provided all participants with lunch and held various cultural events, such as traditional Korean drumming and percussion performances. In addition, participants were invited to the HHI shipyard for a company tour.
