Thermal Power Plant Order

The Industrial Plant and Engineering Division was recently awarded a contract by Korea Southern Power Co., Ltd. to build Units No. 3 and 4 of Namjeju Thermal Power Plant.
The project involves construction of two additional thermal power plant units with a combined generation capacity of 200MW inside the Namjeju Thermal Power Plant. In a consortium with POSCO Engineering & Construction, the division will be in charge of installing boilers, steam turbines and electrostatic precipitators, as well as civil engineering and plant construction. By winning this project, the division solidified its frontrunner position in power plant construction at home and gained an edge in attracting orders from abroad.
The division will commence construction of the two units in July and plans to complete them around May 2007.

Integrated Information System Developed

The Industrial Plant & Engineering Division recently developed an integrated information system (PINES) and held an explanatory meeting for system users.
The new system can manage bundles of information about production processes for EPC turnkey projects including engineering, procurement and construction.
Since information about numerous work activities and work load monitoring is available and thorough manhour management and performance analysis are possible, the integrated information system will play a big role in strengthening the division¡¯s competitiveness through productivity improvements.
In the meantime, the division will begin to apply the new information system on Saudi Aramco¡¯s Third-Party Cogeneration Program Project, which involves construction of a 1,050 MW cogeneration plant ordered by Saudi Arabia.
